Linens: We need towels of all sizes, twin blankets, twin sheets, shower curtains and hooks. This is our highest priority right now as we are experiencing a big influx of refugees and giving away a lot of beds.
School supplies: Every refugee child throughout the year receives a backpack filled with grade-appropriate school supplies: paper, binders, folders, pencils, pens, crayons, etc. The discount stores are a great place to pick up lots of items.
Furniture: Our most urgent need is for lamps, small dressers, chairs, coffee tables, end tables and night stands. We can also use loveseats, sofas, small kitchen tables, lamps and cribs that are under five years old. Please call Michele at 585-385-6860 to schedule a pick up only if your items are in really good condition. We will not accept items that we cannot use.
Household Goods: We NEED dishes, 20-cup rice cookers, blenders, toasters, mixing bowls with and without lids, water bottles, travel mugs, silverware, framed artwork, mirrors, sets of mugs, hand-held mixers, teapots and tea kettles. We also NEED twin sheets, twin blankets, tall kitchen waste baskets, brooms and buckets.
Toiletries: We NEED lotion, razors, toothpaste and toothbrushes, toilet paper, body lotion, hand soap, cleaning supplies (brooms, mops, buckets and sponges) and laundry detergent.
Clothing: We accept in-season, clean and in-style clothing for children and teens, adult men and women.
Saint's Place is open from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Thursday. We are closed on the weekend and on all major holidays. Please do not leave items when we are closed as we need our volunteers to accept only what we can use for the refugees. We apologize for any inconvenience. Our Annual Super Sale is our biggest fundraiser of the year. We accept donations of items to sell that would not be practical for a refugee family. Fancy glassware, electronics, sporting goods, china, antiques, nice artwork, electronics, purses, jewelry and vintage clothing all help raise funds to pay for the operating costs of our Ministry.
We love community groups who are willing to hold coat drives, glove collections or new socks drives for our clothing closet! Toiletries and cleaning supplies also make great service projects for groups. If you would like flyers to pass out in your community, please contact us at 585-385-6860.
Tax receipts for donations of $250 or less are located on the back porch by the door. Donation receipts for larger amounts are available upon request.
It's that time of year when we get a lot of requests for community service opportunities. We would love to work with your church group, school club or community group to facilitate a collection of items you could collect and donate to Saint's Place. The graphic above gives some great ideas of different types of collections you could do within your own neighborhood.
If you have any questions, please call Saint's Place at 585-385-6860 and ask for Michele.
If you sew, we are always in need of long skirts for women and girls. Often, we can provide the fabric.
Are you a donor to the United Way? If so, please consider allocating all or a part of your donation to Saint's Place. Just indicate you'd like to donate to number 5850. Thank you!
